Description

Hohmann Bone Retractor – 9.5in

The VS Surgico Hohmann Bone Retractor is a 9.5-inch orthopedic lever with a pointed blade tip that seats securely against bone. It retracts soft tissue and holds bone edges apart during joint replacement and fracture surgery.

Product Overview

The Hohmann pattern’s pointed tip digs lightly into bone to anchor the retractor, preventing the slippage that flat retractors suffer under load. The broad blade then holds muscle and soft tissue clear of the operative field while the long handle gives the assistant strong leverage.

It is indispensable in hip and knee arthroplasty, fracture fixation, and any deep orthopedic exposure where tissue must be held back firmly against bone. Multiple sizes are often used together to frame the surgical site.

Forged from high-strength surgical stainless steel with a rigid blade that will not flex under load, each retractor is passivated, ultrasonically cleaned, and inspected for tip sharpness and blade integrity before dispatch.

FAQ

Q: What is a Hohmann retractor used for?
A: Retracting soft tissue and levering bone during orthopedic surgery, especially joint replacements and fracture fixation.

Q: Why is the tip pointed?
A: The point anchors into bone so the retractor will not slip under the heavy loads of orthopedic retraction.

Q: How does it differ from a Richardson retractor?
A: The Hohmann is a bone-anchored lever for orthopedics; the Richardson is a hand-held soft-tissue retractor for general surgery.

Q: Will the blade bend under load?
A: No. It is forged from high-strength steel with a rigid blade designed for heavy orthopedic leverage.

Q: Are multiple sizes available?
A: Yes. Additional Hohmann sizes and OEM sets can be supplied for arthroplasty instrument trays.
